I’m doing 2.7/30 with gps. I’m a GoPro noob, so there’s every chance I’m doing something wrong. But it’s pretty frustrating to not be able to get a short day’s worth of footage. With my hero 8 I get about 1-1.25 hours on one battery if filming constantly. This is with the battery that comes with the camera.

The problem remaining after change the battery for the full charge. Many "great" 7 seconds clips from my last motorcycle trip. My GoPro 6 works like a champ and record with no problems at all. I used Sandisk U3 256GB card and change for Samsung 128GB U3, same card speed, however it got better with smaller Samsung card, don't know why.

I use my Hero7 to record 1-hour video, under 1080p, 60 fps, linear mode, with a full battery and a 128G SD card. However, when I check the footage an hour later, the camera only recorded 20 mins. But it didn't turn off. It just exited the shooting mode by itself. This happed a few times. I don't know why.

5 years ago. You may be underestimating the HERO7 Black a bit. Yes, it does get blistering hot when filming in 4K/60, and yes, this resolution/frame rate will cause overheating, especially in warm outside temps. However, if the camera did not shut itself down, then that would be a greater cause for concern.
I said in the previous post that I suspect also the battery discharge is producing a high amount of heat when the consumption is high. with SanDisk Extreme 128GB (this is the one I use in hero 6) in a 25 C office (77 F) at 4K 50fps. after 15min 56 C = 133 F. after 20min 57 C = 134 F.
It's also waterproof down to 33 feet. Its video stabilization feature is highly effective at reducing camera shake, allowing you to capture smooth action footage. It also has plenty of high frame rate options in 1080p and records 4k video up to 60 fps, allowing you to record fast action and slow motion.

Neither of the Hero 7's overheated on this past weekend out. The Hero 9, which is in one of those aluminum skeleton housings and the aluminum battery door cover overheated constantly after 15 minutes, being exposed to the same conditions as the other two cameras. The Hero 9 has no excuse for this. The Regular Hero 7 was recording at 1080p/60fps.

With a camera like GoPro HERO 7, the card should be fast and efficient enough to handle the video and photo modes that generate the most data–particularly 4K60 with Protune and 1080p240. Looks about 60-65 6: Unless you're planning on showing the footage on a 4K 65" screen or larger, don't shoot at the highest resolution and frame rate. My GoTo air setting is 2.7K 60FPS. Internal cockpit cam is usually 1080P 60FPS.
Battery Life. Battery is always a downfall for GoPro cameras; like sensors, smaller batteries just can't cut it like bigger packs can. But the fact that the Hero is mostly featureless gives it a huge boost in battery life. We recorded 1080p at 30 fps for 3 hours straight on a single charge. That's much longer than your typical GoPro these days.
